Romania's wheat stocks are suffering from persistent drought. An estimate of the total damage will be available next week, Agriculture Minister Adrian Oros reports.
Romania, a major Middle East grain exporter with Egypt as its main purchaser, lifted all export restrictions on wheat and other food products to destinations outside the European Union last month, which were enforced on April 10.
Romania traditionally farms around 2.1 million hectares of wheat and harvested 9.9 million tons of wheat last year, compared to 10.1 million in 2018.
