Russia: Good conditions for winter wheat

The weather conditions in Russia are still perfect. This was announced by the Russian weather service Hydrometcentre.
Russia, one of the largest exporters of wheat worldwide, earned 119.1 million tons of grain last year. To the harvest of 2017, the largest area was seeded last autumn with winter cereals for seven years. The area under cultivation for winter wheat is 17.4 million hectares. This corresponds to a plan realization of 100% and an increase of 1.1 million hectares last year, when 16.3 million hectares of winter wheat was sown.
Only 3% of stocks are a bad condition, there were 9% a year at the same time. Freezing temperatures in parts of Russia in early January had therefore no negative effect on the stocks. For the rest of the winter, analysts expect fluctuating temperatures with frosts of up to minus 20 degrees Celsius.
2017 expects a harvest of 114 million tons, including 70 million tons of wheat. The agricultural SovEcon consultancy reported last month.
