Russia plans less wheat acreage

After rising prices on Monday, Matif wheat went down slightly yesterday. The March contract lost 0.75 to 305.50 euros per ton. It is still quiet on the cash markets in this country, but prices for bread wheat and fodder wheat increased slightly. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has published a harvest corridor of 80 to 85 million tons for the coming harvest. The ministry wants to reduce the acreage to keep prices stable after this year's record harvest. Weekly export shipments from the EU reached around 243,000 tons last week. The momentum of EU exports has thus recently slowed slightly. A total of 15.38 million tons of wheat were exported in the current financial year, around 6 percent more than at the same time last year. In Ukraine, the volumes of sea exports are falling. Stormy weather here makes loading and shipping difficult. The recent attacks on the port city of Odessa make export activities even more difficult. Prices on the CBoT also fell slightly yesterday. Premarket wheat prices are trading weaker on the eCBoT.
