Russia: risk of export restrictions manageable

Russian traders and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture want to discuss in a routine session on the grain exports of the country on Friday. In recent months, prices have been reacting on the futures exchange in Chicago due to speculation about possible export restrictions.
In the meantime, the estimates of the Russian grain harvest have been revised upwards several times and hardly anyone talks about export restrictions.
Russia's grain exports are 21% higher than at that date a year ago. In September, the lead was even at 40%. The quality controls were then increased and so the exports are now not quite as extensive.
Export prices for Russia's wheat have been stable lately, having risen five consecutive weeks. According to the latest estimates, 3 to 4 million tonnes more are now available for export. With 38 to 39 million tonnes of wheat exports, the risk of export restrictions is now manageable, according to market participants.
