Russia: Risks associated with winter cereals are valued differently

Russia's Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev told a Conference Wednesday that he does not expect the winter cereal stocks to suffer damage from a strong frost. The yield of the harvest of 2017 could be again very high.
Pyotr Chekmaryov, a senior official from the Ministry of agriculture said that winter cereal stocks are endangered on 650,000 hectares.
Late last week the Russian agricultural consultancy IKAR announced that strong frost could endanger the winter cereal stocks these days in the South of Russia.
Russia's farmers have sown winter wheat with a surface area of 17.4 million last fall. An increase of 1.1 million hectares to the previous year.
