Russia: SovEcon lowers export forecast

The Russian agricultural consultancy SovEcon has reduced its forecast of Russian grain exports. For the marketing year 2018/19 SovEcon expects grain exports in a volume of 42.4 million tons. Previously, the forecast was 43.7 million tons.
The forecast for wheat exports reduced SovEcon by 400,000 tonnes to 33.5 million tonnes. The forecast of maize exports is down by one million tonnes to 2.9 million tonnes.
The forecasts were lowered due to the smaller harvest and the increased domestic consumption.
The forecast for barley exports increased by 300,000 tonnes to 4.1 million tonnes.
SovEcon expects the government to impose no export restrictions, at least within the next one to two months.
