On the last trading day of the past week, trading on Euronext/Matif was impetusless. The front month ended trading unchanged, while the most traded May lost EUR 0.50 per tonne and closed at EUR 281.75 per tonne. Russia's statistics agency Rostat increased the last harvest to 104.4 million tons. President Putin had already announced last week that the country should not offer all surplus crops on the world market. The Ministry of Agriculture in Moscow has now declared that the applicable export quota between February and June of 25 million tons will be maintained. According to statements made by Agriculture Minister Solsky at the Green Weeks in Berlin in January, Ukrainian grain exports have halved. While around 4 million tons were exported in September and October, it was still around 2 million tons in January. Wheat prices rose on the CBoT on Friday. Good export sales are primarily responsible for this. In the week ended January 12, 473,000 tons of wheat were booked into the US for export. This value exceeded the analysts' most optimistic estimates. With the start of the new trading week, the wheat prices on the eCBoT are weaker before the market.
