In line with the holiday in the USA, turnover on Euronext/Matif was relatively low yesterday. However, the contracts did not find a uniform direction in trading. The front month of March fell by EUR 0.50 to EUR 294.50/t. It remains quiet on the cash markets, because of Shrove Monday hardly any traders were active yesterday, especially in the southwest and west. Dutch buyers sometimes look for barley in Germany. Occasionally feed mixers are looking for barley and wheat for later deliveries. Export prices in Russia have been stable over the last week, as reported by the consulting firm IKAR. Exports have recently suffered from difficult weather conditions in the Russian Black Sea ports. However, weekly export shipments have increased again recently. The forecasting service MARS stated in a report published yesterday that there are first signs of drought damage to winter wheat stocks in Spain and Italy. Hardly any frost damage is reported or expected for Europe overall, the winter so far has been relatively mild.
