Saudi Arabia's premier state-owned wheat buying agency, the Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO), has purchased an estimated 689,000 tons of wheat in an international tender, SAGO said, confirming previous reports from traders.
The tender ended on Friday with the search for wheat with a protein content of 12.5%. The wheat was bought at an average price of $ 365.14 per ton of c&f, SAGO said.
The countries of origin offered were the European Union, the Black Sea region, North America, South America and Australia, with the seller having the option to select the origin supplied, SAGO Governor Ahmad Al-Fares said in a statement.
The purchase includes supplies to the ports of Jeddah, Dammam and Yanbu, SAGO said.
