After four trading days of losses, the prices of CBoT wheat futures rise slightly this morning. The USDA yesterday announced that the conditions of field stocks had improved.
After passing through a low pressure area in the US growing regions with snow and rain, fears evaporate before even larger yield losses in winter grain.
According to government experts, 31% of winter wheat field crops are now in good to very good condition. A week ago it was 30%. Market participants had expected less good conditions.
Winter wheat had to endure a long dryness and late frosts in the US plains. Observers had already expected that more summer crops will be grown to meet demand. The sowing of summer crops has started and is now only 3% done.
