Prices for corn on Euronext/Matif dropped to yesterday. The front month of March lost EUR 4.25 and closed at EUR 283.50/t, the June contract fell to the same level. EU imports were also high last week. By January 10, 2023, 15.12 million tons of corn had been imported. In the last calendar week alone, 446,977 tons were imported. On the local cash markets, the price quotations for corn have also fallen as a result of the lower Matif prices. The day before yesterday in Südoldenburg grain maize was quoted at EUR 323/t, yesterday it was EUR 317 per ton. However, sales of corn are still rather low. At the CBoT, corn prices improved slightly in the early dates. The first corn harvest of the year has begun in Brazil, and 2.3 percent of the area has already been harvested. The Brazilian Association of Grain Exporters is expecting an export volume of 5 million tons in January, up from 4.3 million tons previously. Better demand is hoped to come from China in particular.
