Strategy Grains again lowers forecast for EU rapeseed production

Strategy Grains has reduced its forecast of the EU-28 rapeseed harvest for the seventh consecutive month. The weak German crop was the main reason. The French agricultural consultancy lowered the latest forecast from 19.95 million tons to 19.62 million tons. The rapeseed crop 2018 would thus be 11.5% smaller than the previous year's harvest. In Germany, the plants first suffered from too much moisture and later from one of the worst periods of drought. Rape harvest 2018 in Germany is expected to be the lowest in 15 years. Rapeseed is mainly used for the production of vegetable oil, biodiesel and animal feed.
