The French consulting firm raise grains strategy today in its monthly forecast its estimate for the year's soft wheat harvest in the EU-28 at 1.2 million tons now 142.6 million tonnes, because the vegetation conditions in Europe were excellent last.
Thus the year's harvest is left but still 4% below the record harvest of last year estimated 149,3 million tons. The end of April rain came just in time to prevent damage to the spring drought. The drought is but still very common in Spain, Hungary and Croatia. The yields were estimated higher in the countries Germany, Denmark, France, Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic.
The Outlook for the EU barley crop was also revised upwards. With 58.6 million tons to barley of 0.5 million tons more than in the previous month come together well appreciated. That would be 3% less than in the year 2014.
The EU maize harvest was revised downward by the analysts to 0.6 million tonnes. The cultivation has been reduced in many countries. The entire corn crop in the EU is estimated now at 75.5 million tons, 11% less than in the previous year.
