The analysts from the agricultural consultancy Strategy Grains have reduced the estimate of rapeseed production in 2018/19 from 22.54 million tonnes to 22.21 million tonnes (-0.9%) in their monthly report on oilseed production in the European Union. Thus, the forecast would remain slightly above the level of production in the marketing period 2017/18 (22.01 million tons). The estimated area under cultivation in 2018/19 increased from 6.71 million hectares by 0.6% to 6.75 million hectares (2017/18: 6.71 million hectares). Yield expectations, however, are falling from 3.36 tonnes per hectare to 3.29 tonnes per hectare (2017/18: 3.28 tonnes per hectare).
