The Syrian State-run grains agency HOBOOB announced today that she is looking to buy 150,000 tonnes of common wheat of Russian origin in a tender. The offers should be available until August 3, you are specifically looking for wheat from Russia. The price should be indicated in euro on c & f - base. Two part deliveries may be offered by 75,000 tonnes.

The Syrian Government has issued until today no own harvest estimate for 2016, but the FAO expected that the acreage was less than in the previous year. 2.16 million hectares of wheat and barley were ordered in 2015/16 season, 220,000 hectares less than in the previous season. Before the civil war in 2010, still 3.125 million hectares were grown grain in Syria. The war, now so about one-third of the acreage of yesteryear are unused.
