Ukraine: 70% of the land has been harvested

Ukraine has so far harvested 39.9 million tons of grain on 10.8 million hectares or 70 percent of the sown area, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Affairs announced today. The farmers have completed the wheat and barley harvests and harvested 4.47 million tons of corn on 996,000 hectares or 18% of the sown area. Farmers started harvesting corn in mid-September. The ministry predicts that the grain harvest in 2020 could fall from 75 million tons in 2019 to around 68 million tons due to the severe drought in most of the country.
