Ukraine: Bad wheat qualities

Unfavorable weather in spring and summer in Ukraine results in bad wheat qualities. According to traders, the share of milling wheat is less than 45%.
The extreme dryness in spring and heavy rainfall during the harvest increased the share of feed wheat in the northern regions to more than 70%.
Overall, traders estimate the share of milling wheat at 40 - 45%. Last year it was 55%.
This year's wheat harvest is complete. 25 million tonnes of (unpurified) grain were harvested (previous year: 26.1 million tonnes (cleaned) and 26.6 million tonnes (uncleaned).
The Ministry of Agriculture estimates that at least 13 million tonnes of quality wheat were harvested. The government and traders agreed this month that wheat exports in 2018/19 should not exceed 16 million tonnes (milling wheat: 8 million tonnes). In the past season Ukraine exported 17.2 million tons of grain, of which 10.5 million tons of milling wheat.
