Ukraine: Corn exports down 4%

Ukraine's corn exports fell in the first 11 months of the 2019/20 marketing period (September to August) from 29.9 million tons to 28.7 million tons, the analyst APK-Inform reports on Friday.
Ukraine is one of the world's leading corn producers and exporters. The country harvested 35.9 million tons last year.
APK-Inform reported that China is increasing its corn imports from Ukraine from 3.8 million tons in the 2018/19 marketing year to 5.4 million tons.
The European Union remains the largest buyer and importer of Ukrainian May with a volume of 10.5 million tons. In the 2018/19 marketing year, however, a larger volume of 15.9 million tons was imported.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reduced its forecast of the corn harvest to 33 million tons last week. Exports could therefore drop to 26 million tons.
