Ukraine: Corn harvest is 49% complete

The Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture reports that as of 16/10/18 49.3 million tons of grain were harvested on an area of ​​12.3 million hectares. The average yield is 4.00 tons per hectare. At the same time last year, 45.8 million tonnes of grain were harvested. In total, cereals were sown on an area of ​​14.84 million hectares.
14.4 million tonnes of corn were harvested on an area of ​​2.2 million hectares. That is 49% of the total area. The average yield for corn is 6.46 tonnes per hectare.
The wheat harvest is complete. 25.1 million tons of grain were threshed with average yields of 3.8 tons per hectare. Completed is the harvest of barley. As a result, 7.53 million tons of barley were harvested. The average yield is 3.03 tons per hectare.
In total, 63.1 million tonnes of grain are to be harvested this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The winter cereal crop is 89% complete on an area of ​​6.43 million hectares. In total, a sowing area of ​​7.2 million hectares is planned. Winter wheat was sown on an area of ​​5.6 million hectares, as well as winter barley on an area of ​​713.000 hectares and winter rye on an area of ​​113,000 hectares.
For the 2018 harvest, winter crops were sown on an area of ​​7.24 million hectares.
