In the week ending March 28, Ukraine exported only half as much wheat as it had the previous week, at 138,000 tons. This results from the preliminary figures of the consulting company APK-Inform.
In the current export period, Ukraine had exported a total of 1.021 million tons of grain, including 845,000 tons of corn. Millers and bakers in Ukraine asked their government last week to limit grain exports so that bread prices would not have to be raised. The Economics Minister has already signaled his approval. The Association of Grain Traders UGA also agrees to limit exports to 20.2 million tons of wheat.
According to APK-Inform, by April 3, 18.019 million tons of wheat had already been exported. At this date, there were only 11.534 million tons in the previous year. If wheat exports remained at the previous pace, exports would have to cease at the end of April.
