Ukraine's grain exports rose by around 21.8% to 44.2 million tonnes in the 2019/20 season (July 1 to June 30), the Ministry for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture said today.
Wheat exports rose to 17.4 million tons. Ukraine also exported around 22 million tons of corn and 4.2 million tons of barley.
The country harvested a record 75.1 million tons of grain in 2019, compared to 70 million tons in 2018.
Deputy Minister Taras Vysotskiy said in March that Ukraine could export 52 to 55 million tons of grain this season, including 19 to 20 million tons of wheat.
For 2020/21, he said Ukraine could harvest 65-70 million tons of grain and export around 40 million tons.
