Ukraine: Grain exports down 11.8%

Ukraine's grain exports of 13.02 million tons in the current 2020/21 season (July to June) are currently 11.8% below those of the previous season, reports the Ministry of Economic Affairs and adds that corn exports are significantly lower.
So far, 774,000 tons of corn have been exported versus 2.33 million tons at the same time last year because the corn harvest started later this year and the results are weaker due to the adverse weather conditions.
9.14 million tons of wheat and 3.06 million tons of barley were also exported.
Ukraine accounts for 16% of global grain exports and exported over 57 million tons of grain to foreign buyers in the 2019/20 season.
The government expects exports to decline by 47.4 million tons in the current 2020/21 season due to the weaker harvest.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs estimates the grain harvest in 2020 at 68 million tons. That would be a decrease of 7.1 million tons for the 2019 harvest (75.1 million tons).
