Ukraine: grain exports drop by 10% in the first half of 2017/18

Ukrainian grain exports fell by 10% in the first half of the 2017/18 marketing period. This reports the Ministry of Agriculture. It includes 11.2 million tonnes of wheat, 5.8 million tonnes of maize and 3.7 million tonnes of barley.
In the current marketing year 2017/18, 62.3 million tonnes of grain were harvested in Ukraine versus 66 million tonnes in the 2016/17 marketing year. The acting Minister of Agriculture reduced his forecast of grain exports 2017/18 to 41 million tons last month. Previously, 42 million tonnes were still expected. Transport problems were named as the main reason. Rapeseed was exported in the current season in a volume of more than 2 million tons, for soybeans it was 1.3 million tons.
In the marketing period 2016/17, Ukraine exported more than 44 million tonnes of grain, of which 17.4 million tonnes were wheat. Rapeseed was exported in 2016/17 in a volume of 880,000 tonnes and soybeans in a volume of 1.4 million tonnes.
