Ukraine: Grain exports drop by 11.6%

Ukraine has exported 10.77 million tons of grain so far in the 2020/21 season (July to June), compared with 12.19 million tons at the same time in the previous season, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced today. The volume is mainly due to the decline in corn exports from around 1.93 million tons in the previous year. 619,000 tons sunk. Wheat exports amounted to 7.45 million tons compared to 7.53 million tons at the same time last season. In addition, 2.67 million tons of barley were exported.
Ukraine controls around 16% of global grain exports and exported 57.2 million tons of grain in the 2019/20 season. The government announced that exports could fall to 47.4 million tons in the 2020/21 season. The Ministry of Economic Affairs also assumes that the grain harvest in 2020 will decrease from around 75.1 million tons in 2019 to around 68 million tons due to the bad weather.
