Ukraine: Grain exports so far 15.8% below the previous year

Ukrainian wheat exports in 2020/21 (July to June) have so far reached a volume of 13.84 million tons versus 16.43 million tons at the same time last year. Maize exports are mainly responsible for the decline, reports the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
As of October 19, dealers were exporting 1.09 million tons of corn. Last year at the same time it was 2.94 million tons. Wheat exports fell from 10.2 million tons to 9.59 million tons. Barley has so far been exported in a volume of 3.11 million tons.
Ukraine accounts for around 16% of global grain exports and sold 56.7 million tons of grain to foreign buyers in the 2019/20 season.
The government said exports could fall to 47.4 million tons in 2020/21 due to a weaker harvest. The Ministry of Economic Affairs assumes that the grain harvest in 2020 will decrease from around 75 million tons in 2019 to around 68 million tons due to the bad weather.
