The recent rains have improved the state of cereal crops in almost all Ukrainian regions, Ukrainian weather services report. Most of them are in good or satisfactory condition, they say.
Analysts report that only the southern and some areas in central Ukraine are suffering from a lack of soil moisture.
The severe drought that began during the sowing in autumn led the government to lower the grain harvest forecast from 75.1 million tons in 2019 to 60 million tons in 2020. The government's forecast is now between 65 and 68 million tons. By contrast, analysts expect production between 68 and 72 million tons this year.
