Ukraine has exported 6 million tons of grain so far

In the current marketing year 2018/19, Ukraine exported around 6 million tons of grain or prepared it for export. This is a decline compared to the previous year (6.6 million tons in the same period). This is reported by the State Food Safety Authority.
The marketing year 2018/19 started on 1 July 2018 and ends on 30 June 2019. So far, 3.2 million tonnes of wheat (1.9 million tonnes of milling wheat and 1.3 million tonnes of feed wheat), 1.4 million tonnes Tons of barley and 1.2 million tons of corn exported.
The Authority said that the pace of wheat exports is 12% higher than in the previous season and despite the smaller harvest and smaller share of milling wheat.
Traders and analysts said that significantly less ground wheat was harvested than originally expected. The rains during the harvest had bad qualities that could eventually lead to export restrictions.
It is feared that high exports could increase the cost of bread in Ukraine, especially given the weak currency, poor harvest and already inflationary food price inflation.
Ukraine expects a grain harvest of 60 million tonnes in the 2018 calendar year (2017: 61.3 million tonnes). In marketing year 2017/18, 39.4 million tons of grain were exported and the Ministry of Agriculture expects grain exports of up to 40 million tons this season.
The wheat harvest 2018 in Ukraine has already been completed. 25 million tonnes of wheat were harvested versus 26.1 million tonnes in 2017.
