The Ukrainian agricultural consultancy UkrAgroConsult has reduced its forecast of Ukrainian barley crops in 2018/19 and exports due to expected smaller acreage following late spring. At the same time, the forecast of the corn harvest and maize exports was increased.
The forecast for the corn harvest now stands at 25.7 million tonnes and the forecast for barley harvest at 8.2 million tonnes. Maize exports could reach a volume of 20 million tons and barley exports a volume of 4.6 million tons. Last year, 27.4 million tonnes of corn and 8.3 million tonnes of barley were harvested.
The window of opportunity for the sowing of summer crops has already moved significantly lower this year and is getting closer. In addition, large areas are still covered with snow.
