The Ukrainian economy minister agreed with his country's grain traders that in the 2020/21 marketing year that started on July 1, only 17.5 million tons of wheat should be exported.
In a paper that has just been published, the traders state that they do not want to exceed this export volume.
In the past fiscal year, Ukraine exported 20.5 million tons of wheat. The country is one of the leading global grain producers and exporters. In 2019, the farmers harvested 75.1 tons of grain there. This year, however, only 72.1 million tons are expected.
In the fourth quarter of the financial year, i.e. from April 2021, the decision on the export limit should be reviewed again. Then the final harvest result is also available.
96% of the wheat areas have currently been harvested and 25.5 million tons of wheat have been harvested there. Last year 28.3 million tons of wheat were harvested.
