Ukraine revises wheat standards

Ukraine is reviewing its wheat standards and intends to reduce the number of wheat grades from the current 6 to 4, according to a draft released today.
According to the proposals, there should be three types of milling wheat and one feed wheat class.
Class 1 wheat should have a protein content of at least 14%, while the protein content in class 2 should not be below 12.5%. For wheat of class 3, the protein content should be at least 11%.
All other wheat is destined for feed wheat.
Ukraine, which is one of the leading grain producers and exporters, harvested 26.1 million tonnes of wheat in 2017 and exported 17.2 million tonnes of wheat worth $ 2.83 billion.
