Ukraine: Summer cereals are sown on 86% of the land

The Ukrainian farmers have so far ordered 13.3 million hectares of summer grain or 86% of the planned area of 15.5 million hectares, the Ministry of Economy said today.
The area sown includes 1.5 million hectares of barley, 184,300 hectares of summer wheat and 4.6 million hectares of corn, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Trade and Agriculture said.
206,600 hectares of sugar beet, 5.3 million hectares of sunflowers and 942,600 hectares of soybeans were also sown.
In 2019, the record amount of 75.1 million tons of grain was harvested. This year, the ministry announced that the harvest could drop to around 60 million tons.
