In Ukraine, the sowing of summer crops has so far been completed on 84% of planned land or 6.2 million hectares. This reports the Ministry of Agriculture. Spring barley was planted on an area of 1.5 million hectares, 412,000 hectares of peas, 185,000 hectares of oats, 163,000 hectares of summer wheat and 3.8 million hectares of corn.
The plan is to sow summer crops this year on an area of 7.40 million hectares. Of which 4.6 million hectares of corn, 1.6 million hectares of barley, 423,000 hectares of peas, 204,000 hectares of oats and 177,000 hectares of wheat.
Ukraine is the world's third largest exporter of grain and summer and winter crops could exceed 14 million hectares this season.
Last year, summer crops were grown to 7.3 million hectares and the harvested volume reached 61.3 million tons.
