Ukrainian wheat exports in the current marketing year 2019/20 have reached a volume of 19.925 million tons. This means that the country's exporters can only export 275,000 tons of wheat by the end of the marketing period on June 30, 20, reports the Ministry of Economic Affairs today and adds that there are no plans to increase the quota.
Last month, the ministry said it would be ready to restrict wheat exports when exports reached the limit that was negotiated between traders and the Ministry of Economy.
Wheat production in Ukraine exceeds domestic consumption, but bakeries and mills have asked the government to restrict exports to keep bread prices stable.
Ukraine's total grain exports in the current season have reached a record 53.4 million tons. This includes wheat (19.925 million tons), corn (28 million tons) and barley (4.8 million tons).
The ministry's latest forecast on grain exports ranged from 52-55 million tons. In the 2018/19 season, Ukraine exported 50 million tons of grain.
