The majority of winter grain stocks in Ukraine are in excellent condition despite the lack of soil moisture during sowing, reports a senior official from the State Weather Service. The consulting company APK-Inform reports that 80% of the winter grain is in top condition. The acreage for winter cereals in Ukraine for the 2020 harvest rose by 0.2% compared to the previous year to 7.6 million hectares. This includes 6.4 million hectares of winter wheat, a decrease of 0.6%. There were no significant weather risks for the Ukrainian winter crop in the past month. Accordingly, a large winter grain harvest is currently to be expected. Ukraine harvested a record 75.1 million tons of grain in 2019, compared to 70 million tons in 2018.
