The grain harvest in Ukraine in 2020 could be around 10 million tons smaller than in the previous year because the wheat acreage was restricted. The deputy minister of agriculture in Kiev appreciated that today.
Because of the mild winter weather, most crops are currently in good to very good condition. Nevertheless, 800,000 hectares must be sown again, including 700,000 tons of wheat.
The 2020 wheat harvest could reach 23 million tons. In the previous year it was 28 million tons. So far, 40 million tons of grain have been exported from the last harvest, and by the end of the marketing year it could reach a record 52-55 million tons. This would include 19-20 million tons of wheat.
In the next marketing period, however, grain exports would drop to 40-45 million tons because the harvest is smaller.
Corn exports will continue to dominate Ukraine's exports in 2020. The area under cultivation of this grain will be expanded by 200,000 hectares to 5.2 million hectares. The barley acreage is estimated at 2.8 million hectares after 2.6 million. Hectares in 2019.
