The grain harvest 2020 in Ukraine is now estimated at 72.673 million tons. That is 3.19% less than the harvest in 2019 (75.1 million tons). The acreage of the winter seeds was restricted and the weather conditions were sometimes bad, according to the consulting company ProAgro.
The winter wheat harvest is even expected to decrease by 7.31% to 26.234 million tons (2019: 28.3 million tons). The corn harvest will remain at the previous year's level (35.849 million tons), according to the experts.
Since not all planned winter seeds came into the soil last autumn, the acreage of summer is being expanded. This benefits spring barley, which is already sown in warmer areas.
