Institutional investors increased their SRW wheat net long portfolio as of November 9, 21st (3,328 contracts) in the week ending November 16, 21st to 15,258 net long contracts. The investor group of "institutional investors", to which banks, insurance companies, fund companies etc. belong, is thus still predominantly bullish in wheat. That comes from the COT report of the US Department of Agriculture, which was published on Friday evening after close of trading in Chicago.
In corn, the net long position was increased to 341,135 contracts (+21,526 contracts).
In addition, "institutional investors" increased the net long soybean inventory by 17,351 contracts to 29,488 contracts.
Since the report is always published with a delay of almost a week by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission), all changes after November 16 are not taken into account in this update. For this reason, we publish the estimates of the position changes for "institutional investors" in our news ticker on a daily basis. However, options are not taken into account in the daily estimates!
