Last night, the U.S. Department of Agriculture released the Crop Progress report, which is currently updated weekly. Accordingly, maize is sown on 93% of the planned areas (previous week: 88%; previous year: 64%; 5-year average: 89%). Analysts had expected sowing progress of 94%. 74% of the accumulated maize plants are in top condition (previous week: 70%).
