US President Donald Trump is considering whether his government should prescribe an addition to gasoline of 15% ethanol for one year as an aid to the agricultural sector.
The gasoline in the US is usually mixed with 10% ethanol. It wants to reduce greenhouse emissions.
For the US farmers, this is a very surprising news, because corn consumption would skyrocket and inventories will be reduced faster.
Currently, refineries in the US buy about 15 billion gallons of ethanol annually. Crude oil traders are far from pleased with this proposal. They argue that many engines such as boat engines, motorcycles or lawnmowers are attacked and damaged.
Shares of grain trader ADM rose after the announcement became public.
