US government wants to sign new agreements for soybean sales

US Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said yesterday at a meeting of the US meat industry in Washington that it was a mistake to become so dependent on Chinese soybeans. Now the government is pursuing the plan to open up other markets.
The never-ending trade dispute with China will cost US agriculture billions of dollars.
But the world is hungry for protein crops, as well as Canada and China, according to Perdue, and so the US administration now wants to sign new agreements with the European Union, Japan, India and others.
