Canada, Brazil and the USA account for around 55% of pork exports in 2020. The USA became the world market leader in this area.
Canada and Brazil also increased their exports to China in the first four months of this year by 100% compared to the same period last year. Without exports to China, however, exports from the three countries declined. Exports to China accounted for 57% of total pork exports for Brazil in the first five months of 2020.
During this period, 36% of all pork exports to the USA were delivered to China. Only 13% was common in previous years. The dependence on the sales market in China has grown significantly.
If you compare exports from these three countries, it is noticeable that Brazil and Canada started 2020 with a low starting number of pigs, whereas in the USA the herd of pigs was particularly large.
