The VEZG reacted this week to the changed situation on the slaughter pig market and increased the listing to 1.75 euros/kg SG. Some of the slaughter companies had to reduce their capacities further due to the tight supply situation. The marketing of the animals ready for slaughter is more than quick and buyers already have to pay a surcharge. Demand continues to rise and cannot always be met. However, the continued rise in feed costs continues to place a heavy burden on farms. For the current week, the "Association of Producer Associations for Livestock and Meat" gives an average AutoFOM price factor (median), the "association price" of €1.75/index point (that's + 25 cents compared to the previous week) in a range of 1 €.70 to €1.75; the corresponding FOM base price is €1.75/kg slaughter weight.
