World flour trade has been rising again for 4 years - Turkey's largest exporter

The International Grains Council (IGC) released its monthly market report on July 24th. It assumes that world trade in flour will increase by 4% in 2020/21 to 15 million tons in the previous year.
If this forecast is correct, it would be the first time in four years that there has been an increase in flour exports. In the 2016/17 marketing year, the largest volume of trade so far was found at 17.699 million tons. In the three years that followed, the volume fell continuously to 14.4 million tons in the previous year. The lowest volume was registered in 2014/15 with 14.1 million tons.
Turkey remains the world's largest flour exporter with 4.9 million tons. The majority (2/3) of this goes to countries in the Middle East, such as Iraq and Syria. This year, Turkey is benefiting from a good own harvest.
