Just like wheat, corn was able to interrupt the downtrend on Friday. For the November date, it was about 3.75 euros/t northbound. On the one hand, the speedy and extensive shipments in the Ukraine are still a burden, on the other hand, producers and traders all over Europe are worried about their corn harvest. There are reports from eastern Hungary that grain maize is so poorly developed here that the harvest could even be a total failure. Yield estimates of between 2 and 6 t/ha are reported from Romania. In south-west Germany, the grain maize harvest will begin earlier so that the gas supply for drying is still secured. In the north of Germany it rained quite heavily in the past week. Drops in earnings like in 2018 are not expected here. France's Ministry of Agriculture estimates that 50% of maize stocks are still in good to very good condition. There was little news at the CBoT. The harvest in Argentina is almost over. The Grain Exchange estimates this year's harvest at 52 million tons.
