MATIF Rapeseed spot / futures market prices & news

The agricultural and stock market news for rapeseed, canola and the soy complex is updated daily. Price-influencing assessments by institutes such as the USDA are covered, as are strong market currents and political influences. The rapeseed quotations on Euronext (MATIF) are displayed in real time (sec.). Soybeans, soybean meal and soybean oil are traded on the CBOT and displayed by the ZMP neartime (approx. 10 min).

It should be noted that virtually all futures contracts are not physically delivered, but are usually settled by trading the offsetting position before the expiry of a contract. Most traders only use futures to hedge the prices they pay or receive on the local market at world market prices and are not interested in physical delivery at the location specified by the exchange.

Rapeseed is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant and reaches growth heights of 30 to 150 centimeters. It can develop a fleshy taproot. The upright stem is branched at the top. The above-ground parts of the plant occasionally have very faint gray cilia on the veins and leaf edges, but are usually completely bare or slightly hairy at the base.

In 2021, rapeseed yields per hectare amounted to 35.0 dt/ha in Germany, 30.7 dt/ha in Austria and 30.8 dt/ha in Switzerland. The average oil content of rapeseed is 45 to 50 percent, while the protein content ranges from 17 to 25 percent.
