COCERAL estimates the 2024 EU-27 rapeseed harvest at 19.13 million t: - 4.6% compared to the previous year. In its March 24 issue, the umbrella organization of European agricultural traders (COCERAL) estimates the EU rapeseed harvest at 19.13 million t (previous year 20.5 million t). This means a decrease of -4.6% compared to the previous year. The decline in cultivated areas from the previous year's 6.18 to 5.85 million ha plays a significant role in the expected lower result. The area yields for 2024 are estimated to be higher at 32.7 dt/ha (previous year: 32.5 dt/ha). In France, the EU's largest production area, a rapeseed harvest of 4.47 million tonnes is forecast. A slight reduction in cultivated area will be more than offset by higher yield expectations. In the second largest producer country , Germany, the rapeseed area was reduced by -6.4%. With an unchanged estimated yield of 36 dt/ha, the harvest volume falls to 3.92 million t (previous year 4.19 million t). The DRV estimate comes to a similar result. A rapeseed harvest of around 3.6 million tonnes (previous year: 3.74 million) is expected for Poland . t) predicted. Reduced cultivated areas and reduced yield expectations lead to this assessment. In Romania the conditions are even less favorable. The area has decreased from 0.66 to 0.44 million ha. Yield estimates fall from 32 to 27.5 dt/ha. This means that a result of 1.21 million t is expected, or only 58% of the previous year's harvest. In the coming marketing year, the EU-27 will continue to be dependent on rapeseed imports in the order of 5 million tonnes. The main supplier countries are Ukraine, Australia and Canada.
