Apr. 2025: EU-Commission updates EU rapeseed supply 2025/26
In the April issue, the EU Commission (EU COM) publishes its latest assessment of the EU rapeseed supply for the coming year. This is based on the statistically recorded areas under cultivation and the latest yield forecasts from the Agricultural Meteorological Institute (MARS).
The total harvest is expected to increase by 11.9% year-on-year to around 18.9 million tons. Compared to previous years with fluctuating results, a good average is expected to be achieved again. A larger area under cultivation and a higher expected yield of 32 dt/ha will contribute to this.
Domestic consumption is expected to rise again to 24.24 million tons (previous year: 22.2 million tons).
The necessary imports are expected to fall slightly to 5.78 million tons.
The strong euro exchange rate will contribute to the EU supply deficit being offset by cheap imports. At the same time, however, this will also help to ensure that the price level is capped.
IGC maintains high global soy supply in 2025/26.
While soybean production in the USA is stagnating, the coming soybean harvests in South America are expected to increase by a further +4 to +5 %. Despite consumption rising faster than production growth, stocks remain at a far above-average level. This is keeping prices in the oilseed sector in check.
