EU-KOM confirms good average EU rapeseed harvest
In its latest June issue, the EU COM confirms its previous estimate of the EU rapeseed harvest in 2025 at 18.9 million tons. The May forecast was only slightly lower. This is due to the higher acreage (5.95 million hectares) and higher yields per hectare of around 32 dt/ha (previous year: 29 dt/ha).
Rapeseed consumption is estimated to be higher again at 25.26 million tons (previous year: 23.3 million tons). Imports of around 5.8 million tons are therefore still expected.
In comparison, the umbrella organization of grain and oilseed traders (COCERAL) estimates EU rapeseed production at 19.24 million tonnes. The association assumes a cultivation area of slightly more than 6 million hectares and a yield of 31.7 dt/ha.
IGC slightly reduces high soybean estimate.
The International Grains Council (IGC) has slightly reduced its previous increase in the soybean estimate. This is due to the drought-related reduction in US yield expectations based on weekly crop assessments. Global soybean production is cut to 427.7 million tons. Consumption remains almost unchanged at 429 million tons. This means that ending stocks are trending downwards.
The US soybean harvest is expected to fall to 117 million tons in autumn 2025 (previous year: 118.8 million tons). In addition to the already reduced acreage, yields are not expected to reach the previous year's level. Exports will be lower if domestic consumption remains unchanged.
The estimate for Brazilian soybean production remains unchanged at 175 million tons. The harvest begins in Feb. 2026. This year, the result was 169.5 million tons. Exports are expected to rise from 106 to 110 million tons.
For Argentina, only a slight increase in the soybean harvest to 50.5 million tons is estimated for spring 2026.
On the consumption side, China is far ahead with 133 million tons. Around 108 million tons of imports are required to cover demand. Most of this comes from Brazil.
The EU-27 itself produces only 2.9 million tons of soybeans and imports 14.4 million tons; in addition, there are 17 million tons of soybean meal.
