COCERAL estimate: EU rapeseed harvest 2014 at 22.7 million tonnes
The European umbrella organisation of grain and animal feed dealers (COCERAL) has estimated the EU rapeseed crop higher in its current June issue. The increase is expected in 2014 of 20.6 million tonnes in the previous year to 22.8 million tonnes in the crop year. This again ensures a harvest level over the last few years.
A larger to about 100,000 ha EU acreage in conjunction with a 2.6 dt / ha higher yield of 33.6 dt / ha have contributed significantly to this result.
Germany will 2014 return to his leading role in the EU with a rapeseed harvest of 5.9 million tonnes. For smaller acreage is expected a yield of 41 dt / ha (previous year 39.5 dt / ha).
France harvested this year to around 1 million tonnes or 20% more than in the previous weak year. The French crop estimate is to 5.2 million tonnes.
The third-largest wine-growing area of Poland expects a crop score of 2.85 million tonnes. The result is achieved primarily by an increase in income by 21%. The Polish average yield is estimated at 33.5 dt / ha.
With 2.47 million tonnes of UK n is one of the major growing areas in the EU. For same acreage, a 15% increase rapeseed crop is expected on the larger Flächenertrag with 34.5 dt / ha.
Czech Republic to rape at slightly reduced acreage and somewhat weaker estimated income of 34 dt / ha only 1.36 million tonnes (previous year 1.41 million tonnes) harvest.
The other EU countries not go beyond about 1 million tonnes of canola crop.
2014 EU rape harvesting benefits in the vast majority of the cultivation of above-average income at slightly elevated area. The result should actually be achieved, the usual import volumes in the EU could reduce significantly.
