Current estimates for the rapeseed harvest in 2021 In its latest May issue, the umbrella association of European grain and oilseed traders estimates the EU-27 rapeseed harvest in 2021 at 16.65 million t (previous year 16.12 million t). Higher acreage and slightly higher yields are the decisive factors. However, the increase in production is not sufficient for domestic demand. Imports will remain at a high level. According to Coceral estimates, Germany is one of the largest EU rapeseed producers with 3.52 million t (2.94 million t). The area under cultivation has increased again to 1 million hectares compared to the previous year. The area yield is estimated to be lower at 35.2 dt / ha (previous year 36.8). In France , the area under cultivation fell by - 15% due to adverse weather conditions for sowing. The decline in area is only partially offset by higher yield expectations of 31 dt / ha (previous year 29.2 dt / ha). The harvest is estimated at 2.94 million t (previous year 3.25 million t). Poland is the third largest producer with an estimated 2.7 million t. The result is slightly smaller than last year. Slightly higher cultivation areas are compensated for by depressed area yields. The Czech Republic is still of importance with a harvest volume of slightly higher 1.26 million t , also caused by higher cultivation areas and yield expectations. Great Britain's rapeseed production has fallen from previous harvests of more than 1.5 million t to the current 0.93 million t . The reason is the declining acreage. The country becomes an importer. DRV estimates the German rapeseed harvest to be 3.6 million, 3.1% higher than in the previous year.In the latest May issue, the German Raiffeisen Association (DRV) estimates the German rapeseed harvest at around 3.6 million t . The decisive factor is the 3.9% higher cultivation area . However, the yield expectations for the 2021 harvest are lower at 36.3 dt / ha (previous year 36.8 dt / ha). Significantly lower harvests are predicted in the federal states of Hesse (-15.7%) and Rhineland-Palatinate (-10.6% Schleswig-Holstein (-10.2%) mainly due to declining acreage. By contrast, harvests are increasing in Saxony-Anhalt ( + 21.1%), Lower Saxony (+ 18.8%), Bavaria (+ 15.1%) and Brandenburg (+ 10.2%) In all cases, the influence of the increased cultivation areas outweighs the unfavorable previous year. The German rapeseed harvest remains significantly behind previous years.
